This is some East Kootenay Bow Hunting for Rocky Mountain Elk. Every morning I would get up and my cousin kinda sets us up where to go…we kinda pick from his spots. Anyway, I’ve seen the herds of Elk in this field but they always leave just before sun up. But we go everyday, and sometimes there are a few stragglers…and we hunt them up. Well, this day there were three calf Elk that were laggin behind and it was starting to get pretty light out…and I saw them…so I gave them a call with my PRIMOS HUNTING CALL the HOOCHIE MAMA. Well, at first they didn’t really respond. But then after a while I could get them to stop and look. And later on as one left the field, I got the other to stay and come towards me more…and then he went to leave again, and again I called him with the Hoochie Mama and he came right to me. It was cool to see…wish I got that on film. It was awesome to have called the Calf in so close to me in the open…it got to about 20 yards of me…but by the time I got the bow up and safety off and aimed the Elk was nearly 65 yards away with only an a$$ shot. But it was fun…I called in other elk too…I’ll have to look through all my footage to …
