Just when you think that Mathews cannot make a better bow than anything that they already have out, they go and put out a couple of bows that really are unbelievable. 2009 is a great year to buy a new Mathews. Mathews generally comes out with one main bow, but this year they came out with two great bows.
The Reezen 6.5 and 7.0 are the bread and butter single cam technology. The Reezen is actually the fastest single cam on the market today and the most parallel limb bow. With an IBO speed of 340fps the Reezen 6.5 is fast, smooth and quiet. The first time that I shot the Reezen I couldn’t believe how smooth of a draw cycle it was. I thought that with 340fps you would have to give up the smooth draw that Mathews always have, but I was wrong. The bow draws great. The Reezen is 32” axle to axle which makes for the perfect length for hunting, short but still long enough to be accurate. The only difference between the Reezen 6.5 and 7.0 is the brace height. I personally would recommend the 6.5, the way that the bow is designed it would be hard to notice the difference in brace height and the 6.5 is going to be faster. Also, the Reezen has some new technology with String Grubs reducing string vibration and gaining more speed. The Harmonic Stabalizer is another innovation incorporated into the Reezen which dampens more than 75% of residual vibration, giving the bow little recoil and hardly any hand shock on the shot. If you have not gotten to your Mathews dealer to try and shoot the new Reezen you definetly need to. It will give you a reason to buy a new Mathews.
Mathews other big bow for 2009 is a little different than what you’ll usually find from Mathews. The Monster bow is a twin cam split limb bow that is built for serious speed. With the newest most advanced dual cam technology, the AVS (Advanced Vectoring System) is extremely fast, but also very forgiving and smooth drawing. With an IBO speed of 353fps the Monster is the smoothest drawing speed bow that I have ever shot. Recoil and hand shock are extremely low for a bow that is 353fps and the Monster has a very solid back wall with 80% letoff. The AVS cam is the most efficient dual cam system on the market and when you try and shoot the Monster you will know why. The Monster has some other new technology besides the cam system. Quad V Lock Limbs are more durable and longer lasting than any previous limb from Mathews and like the Reezen, the Monster also has the Harmonic Stabalizer and String Grub on the bow. The Monster has a 6” brace height and is 33.5” axle to axle which makes it very stable. If you are in the market for a bow and are looking to gain speed make sure you check out the Monster. You will not be disappointed. It’s quieter, smoother and has a better feel than any other bow in it’s class.
